That is going to be my motto for 2014. I have been stirring up some big ideas for a few months now. As some of you may have noticed, I have been posting a lot asking about abandoned drive-in locations and I am finally ready to unveil my big idea to the world...Drive-Ins: Capturing America's Past, a photographic tour giving new narratives to the forgotten American Drive-In theaters of our past.
The big plan will be to hit the road mid July or early August and travel to as many abandoned and operational drive-in theaters as I can. At each location, I will stage and photograph models interacting with the space to create narratives that bring together my own nostalgic past with drive-ins, their history, and the new life these abandoned structures have taken.
I am in the early process of the project right now, which means mapping out and researching locations and fundraising. If you are interested in keeping up with this project, I am now dedicating a blog on my website specifically to it, which can be found HERE. You can track my progress in planning the trip and seeing where I will be going, behind the scenes images from photos shoots, as well as fundraising efforts (expect a Kickstarter in the very near future), and being with me for every step of my adventure!
I hope you are all as excited about this project as I am because I won't be able to do it without YOUR help! For now, I will leave you with an image from my visit this past summer to the Hilltop Drive-In located in Joliet, IL. For more images, check out the new blog.
