Newsletter Vol. 6

What a whirlwind the last few months have been. There were lots of amazing things going on in both my personal and professional life and I dropped off the face of the online world for a few months. Now, I am back with lots of exciting news!

We are homeowners!

The reason for my recent radio silence was mostly due to Justin & I buying our first house! It is a fixer upper and we have been pouring all our spare time into trying to scrape and paint the exterior before the rain is here for good. I haven't done any mannequin photos recently since I have been so exhausted but you can expect some fun ones to come as we start to knock out walls and make this place our own.

Drive-In Book Update:

Last week was my one year anniversary of returning to Portland after 65 days on the road so now seems like the perfect time to announce my book release date. Drum roll please.... Drive-In America will be available November 22, 2015! I am so excited for the final chapter of this project to come together. It has been a long three year process and I couldn't have done it without all of you. Details of a release party in Portland will be coming soon as well as the option for pre-sales with a special deal. Until then, here is an unreleased image to hold you over.

Awesome Clients:

Erin Teal Littlestar

Erin not only has an amazing name which I just love saying but she is also a fabulous life + love coach. Sometimes it is just nice to talk it out with someone. Particularly someone with such a radiant personality. You can't help but smile when you are around her. We had a great time gallivanting around town to a get a wide variety of shots for her soon to come updated website.

Kim & Jason

These two were married at Pendarvis Farm on July 4th. I knew this was going to be an amazing wedding. I met Kim 11 years ago when I was fresh to Portland and I answered an ad looking for Roller Derby girls. I can confidently say that meeting her changed my entire life so I was honored to capture such a significant moment in hers.

Jen & Matt

Such a fun beach wedding to photograph topped with an amazing couple and wedding party who while drunk, still managed to be the best listeners I have ever encountered in my career. Seriously, their attentive listening made it possible to pull this group photo off in less than 10 minutes. Ohhhh and the shag carpet throughout the house. Don't even get me started on how amazing all the shag carpet ended up being for pictures. Something to keep in mind future couples ;)

Karlyn & Adam

These two melted my heart with their sweet story. The below portrait of them is taken at the elementary school where they met for the first time in 5th grade. I know, it is almost too adorable to believe. As if that wasn't precious enough we also were able to do a different kind of ring detail that I absolutely love! The black & white image below is a photo of Karlyn's ring in the rose, surrounded by both of her grandmother's and her mother's wedding ring.

I did manage to get one quick mannequin photo in the other day while I was using this head to hold up a white board for a product shoot. See mannequins have many uses and therefore it is totally acceptable that I someday want an entire room filled with them.

Lindsey Rickert

Portland, OR, United States of America

I turned to photography at a young age as a way to manipulate the world in front of me into endless possibilities. It remained a hobby for several years until I decided to run away from the snow in Iowa and towards the rain in Portland, OR. While I was inspired by film makers and my surroundings, I had a tendency to pick apart single frames and freeze them. My memory wasn't a movie playing back in my head, it was a series of still images that created a narrative. This translates into my work through the use of lighting and props that build a scene and create a story. When I am not taking pictures, I spend my time roller skating, playing with my puppy Charlie Von Shitbird (he is very sophisticated), spending time with my snake Vans, embarking on capers with my girlfriends, messing around with special fx makeup, and exploring the great Pacific Northwest and all it has to offer. The best thing about my job is getting to meet a variety of people. No to shoots are the same and I thrive on getting to know my clients and collaborating with them to create truly unique and bold images that fit their needs. Whether it be wedding photography, family portraits, small business needs, or you simply want a kick ass original portrait. If you are looking for a creative experience that will not only boost your confidence but create a lasting memory then lets make it happen!
